Parish Flotsam: Parish Flotsam: April 2011 Parish Council Elections People wishing to stand in the Parish Council Elections should have filled in their forms by now. The Vicar has decided not to stand for Parish Council again, mainly because in the midst of the term of office, he will be turning 65 and although there are no plans for retirement, he wants to keep his options open. Churchyard Care Thanks to Glapwell Parish Council for their grant to the maintenance of the churchyard. We await Ault Hucknall’s decision to be notified following our application late last year. We have re-engaged our contractor for another three years following his excellent service during last year. Celiac Communicants. Ault Hucknall Church at Holy Communion now have the availability of gluten free wafers for celiac communicants. Please let the Vicar know before the service if you have a need for them if he does not know already. There are three known at present. For those not aware of the problem, celiacs can have a very adverse reaction to wheat products, so the wafers, (which are square to be distinctive) must not touch the other wafers. Additionally, the commixture has been discontinued (the practise of the priest dropping the little triangle of the priests wafer into the wine) to avoid contamination of the wine with anything wheaten. It is also another reason why we must not recommence the intinction (communicants dipping their wafer in the wine) which was discontinued when the swine flu virus was spreading. Yours prayers are asked…. Our prayers continue for the sick, and at this time particularly Jean Statham. We also hold in prayer Ena Haynes. We remember their spouses and families in their concerns and while they give such selfless support. Happy Birthday to Norma Unwin who passed the milestone of her 90th birthday on 2nd March (see photo p29) . And..Congratulations to Jonathan Paul Solomon and Michelle Louise Turner on their wedding on 19th March. Jonathan is son of Wilf Stockton, former Vicar of Ault Hucknall. Thanks to the volunteers who will be running the Lent Lunches again this year. Any services would be appreciated if you wish to make a pot of soup one week. Please let Sheena White know of you wish to help. Well done again to those running the pre-Lent Pie and Peas Supper and entertainment (future as I write).
