Investigations in rural ministry in New Zealand and possible lessons for the English Church. Published by Tony Bell in 2001 ISBN 0953777510 The complete verse of a working class mother. In a different generation with opportunities such as those of the later twentieth century she would have been a university student. As the sixth child of a father utterly crippled in the battle of the Somme there was no affording the uniform for the grammar school to which she won a scholarship. On leaving school there was no career path. The family needed the money she could earn by being put into service. Talent will out, however. After three months of lessons she then was self taught and became an accomplished church organist. She turned her hands to painting. As well as bringing up five children, she also composed poetry. Edited by her youngest son, this was her complete poetic work - but some poems are still being discovered. One was recently discovered in her last surviving brother's effects.
